We wake up, knowing at the end of the day we will go back into our bed  in which we had meticulously made that morning, mess it up, then the next day: make our bed meticulously, return to it that night and mess it up for ourselves to remake it the very next morning. There is no point to making our beds besides providing a structure to begin our day. William H. McRaven wrote the book, Make Your Bed, in which he provides us with the insight that starting off our day with a completed task, such as making our beds provides us with a clear order to continue on in the day: it's a goal, more importantly a completed goal. Without a goal, or purpose we would end up living pointlessly in absurdity, with no purpose. It is when we engage with Sisyphean Structures in our daily lives that we begin to care and tend to a world that seems to have no sense in its nature, “We can enjoy the daily grind by fully accepting life's meaninglessness and finding freedom in the present effort” (Camus). Through created routine and systems we begin to create for ourselves purpose and order from repeated habit, and Sisyphean-structured moments in our lives in which we impose upon ourselves.​

The very act of making art is pointless and absurd. An artist makes a work, knowing that once they have finished, they will reevaluate, reconstruct, and start over. As Sisyphus pushes up his boulder and reaches the peak of the mountain he was condemned to climb up and down for eternity, Albert Camus states, “One must imagine Sisyphus happy” (Camus). A pointless act does not equate to a fruitless act; rather, it is a manufactured purpose to make sense of an indefinite cycle. As people live, we work to maintain order, structure, thought, and routine as a way to manufacture a self-imposed system that is repeated in a Sisyphean-style where once an act is complete, the boulder rolls back down for the practitioner to roll back up; a purposeful act from the realm of the absurd.
